1. There is nothing of me that is not of earth, no split instant of separateness, no particle that disunites me from the surroundings.  I am no less than the earth itself.  The rivers run through my veins, the winds blow in and out with my breath, the soil makes my flesh, the sun’s heat smolders inside me… the life of the earth is my own life.  My eyes are the earth  gazing at itself.

  2. Plants can see.  We uproot and lop them, germinate and transplant them, largely as we wish.  It seldom occurs to us, as we pick a burr from our socks or drink another glass of wine, that we are actors in strategies that we initiated not by ourselves but by them, strategies that have been hugely successful in their campaigns to claim ever more living space on earth for their species. (David Attenborough)

This blog is an attempt to see the natural world, not from my own point of view, but from theirs.

  4. The process. To explain in words the connection and its effects and interactions and subtleties is not easy.  This is because much of the work is beyond words, without words, an unheard language that can only be listened to when the seeds of the idea of using nature as a medium for communication are planted and can be actualized.
