I recently finished my indigo double cloth and I’ve been purging my archives for landscape inspiration for my next textile. Lately, I’ve been extremely nostalgic for Lesotho, the small kingdom inside South Africa. Each photograph represents a different hike I experienced during my stay. I remember waking up to my neighbors —Sotho shepherd boys maintaining their flock along the mountainside. These pictures were taken four years ago, and I was 22 then. I try to embody the personal, intimate experience of memory with each cloth that I make. I weave these thoughts and memories in order to hold on to the nuance of passing time.
Lesotho will be the next landscape to process. I will be utilizing a warp faced ikat and only use wildflowers for this next natural dye extraction.
